Read this blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think the writer of the article described the main event very well. Even though I didn't notice it until now, the writer is totally right. The main event isn't about fractions and sentences. It is about preparing students for the hard future, the future that is going to walk up to them and slap them in the face, as soon as they leave their house for good.

3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go.

Yesterday, I put up a curtain over my window to keep the light from coming in. Despite my room being pitch black from the curtain I put up, I couldn't sleep at all. I was lying wide awake at about midnight. So I decided to fix my curtain. See the curtain is supposed to wrap around the curtain and attach to the wall. I got up on my bed and fixed the curtain after a couple of tries. When I went to lie back down, I banged my head on the running fan on the ceiling. It hurt really bad. I have a giant bump and a constant throbbing now.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement. Elaborate on why you agree of disagree.

If images are on the internet they should be "free game".

Yes, I believe that images that are put on the internet should be free game. This is because sometimes, you can't tell if an image is legal to use or not without paying.  I think that it would decrease the amount of misdemeanors drastically because people wouldn't be doing anything illegal by using an image they found on the Internet.

Reflect on your resume website. What things would you have done differently?  What do you wish you would have known? Having seen other people's, do you match up?

There are many things that I would have changed about my website. The first thing I would change is the font of my headings. At first, I thought it was really cool, but it ended up being pretty difficult to read. This would have affected the user experience of my website. The next thing I would change about my website is the color scheme. Sure, blue is my favorite color, but it would have been cooler if I went through and got a really good color scheme. One thing I wish I would have known is that everybody was going be looking at my website. To start off, it was kind of a joke, so I didn't really try super hard. After seeing some websites by other people, I think my website is one of the top in the class. I think I really knew what I was doing, and I think other people enjoyed looking at it too.

What's the coolest thing you've learned in Web Design so far? Why is it so cool and how can it help you in the future?

The coolest thing that I have learned in web design so far is how to make a website. Not only do I know how to make a totally cruddy website, but I also know how to make that totally cruddy website into a decent-looking one.

What is a resume website? What do people put on resume websites. Spend about 5-10 minutes looking up resume websites and what they are used for. Explain what you find. Include an image of a resume website if possible.

A resume website is a website explaining a person's skills and previous employment, in order to convince the employer to hire the person for the job. People put their name and information along with where they were previously employed. I found many creative sites but most of them were only one page with lots of information on them.

Weekend

Tell me about your weekend.

Over the weekend, I had a recreational basketball game on Sunday, which was really bad. The game went down to the wire, and it ended horrifically. At the end of the game, we had to foul to keep them from running out the clock. They got a one-and-one, and the shooter went to the line. The referee said, "Two shots! Relax on the first!". This was confusing because he only got one shot, but we believed the ref. The shooter missed the free throw and we got the rebound. Because he said two shots, the rebounder gave the ref the ball. The ref just let the ball roll out of bounds, and they got the ball back. We ended up losing the game.

Tell me about your weekend. Give me a story, something funny that happened, an experiencing you had, the way you felt, etc. Include photos!'

Over the weekend, I had a basketball recreational basketball game. I usually score in double digits, but not that day. I only had five points, but my brother had twelve. He was on fire, and he even broke a kid's ankles. I was on the bench, but everybody was like, "Ohhhhhh!".

I wish that schools could have classes personalized for me or anyone else in the school, to have them in the exact classes they need to succeed in life. It is not possible because that is an unlimited amount of classes, and there is no way to know what each student is going to be. It's a great idea, though.

Color can convey a lot of emotion when it comes to designing anything from a product to a website to an advertisement to a logo and so much more. What do you think the importance of colors on a website are? What is a color scheme and why is it important to have when designing? Explain any thoughts you might have around color in design.

Colors are very important to a website. Without a creative color scheme, your website will be unappealing and boring. When you have a creative color scheme, users stay because they want to see what this colorful new website offers.

Think about the quote below. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work (especially Web Design!)? I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

I think this means that when we focus harder on things, they will be of a lot better quality. What I mean by this is that if you type up a twenty-page paper on a topic you don't care about, it won't be near as good as a five-page paper on a topic you really care about. It shows that if you devote more time and focus to the little things, the big things will turn out great.

Tell me all about your weekend! I sure hope you have photos to share.

I had a recreation basketball game on Sunday against "Get Rec'd". It is a pun because "wrecked: is spelled wrong in order to intimidate the other team. They were the ones that got wrecked, though. Below is a picture of a stick person that recently got ""rec'd".

What's the coolest thing you've learned in this class so far this year? Now that you have a little knowledge, what do you want to learn that you don't know how to do yet?

I learned CSS.

Superbowl!!

Tell me all about your Sweetheart weekend (even if you sat at home on the couch!). Include photos!

I didn't go. I watched the new Transformer's movie, and then watched the Superbowl on Sunday. It wasn't anything special because I really wanted the Seahawks to win the game.

What is a website wire frame? Explain. If you don't know what it is, look it up. Find an image online to place on your blog that represents a website wire frame and how they work.

A website wire frame, also known as a page schematic or screen blueprint, is a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework of a website. Wire frames are created for the purpose of arranging elements to best accomplish a particular purpose. Definition courtesy of Wikipedia.

Finish this sentence "10 years from now I will be...."

10 years from now I will be working a job and dating a super hot girl that I plan to marry; I will live with her in the suburbs. We will have many children, and she and I will raise them well and I will retire with tons of money.

Tell me about your weekend. Go.

My weekend was really fun. I was sick on Friday, so I didn't get to wrestle in the meet on Saturday. I still had to go to the meet, though, and sit through the whole thing. I think it took around five hours. The good thing was that I got to go to McDonald's afterwards and got food there. On Sunday, I had a rec. basketball game. We lost by twenty, but it was fun because we just threw up half-court shots for the whole second half.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your life here at BVHS. What activities or clubs are you involved in? What year are you in school? What is your favorite class and/or teacher so far this year? What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can.

I am a freshman in high school here at Blue Valley High School. I can't wait to be a sophomore, though, to make fun of the freshmen as I get made fun of every day. I am involved in wrestling, and I go to a chess club meeting about every two months. I am looking forward to coding in Ms. Scheuerman's amazing Web Design class!

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

So far this class has been very fun, in part because I sit next to Matthew Boushka, the best kid on the planet. One interesting thing I have learned so far is how to code a simple HTML website. I want to learn how to code CSS, a fancy word for making your website pretty.

The Weekend

Tell me about your weekend. What did you do? Upload a photo to your Google Drive and then insert the photo (or photos!) to your blog post to show me what all you did.
Over the weekend, I played a basketball game on Matthew Boushka's team. We lost by 19 points, but it was a win in my heart because I had more than half the team's points. After losing the game miserably, I went over to Boushka's house and watched the Packer's win. Let's go Packers!

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

After reading the newspaper clipping, I think the principal is right when he says, "You are important and you are needed." He is saying that everybody has a part in the world, even if it's a really small one. He is also right when he says, "The world does not owe you a living, you owe the world something." He is saying that good things aren't just going to come to you. You have to work for them.
